SPIRITUAL ACT OF GIVING
"For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also" (Matt. 6:21). Giving is best viewed as a part of our worship to the Lord. In addition to giving because the Lord wants us to, we also get to give. It’s a joy to be generous and help others!
FAQ
With our new name, how will that impact my giving?
-
There is no impact. You can continue to give using the envelopes provided.
-
Up to Nov 30, we invite you to continue making your checks out to Church of the King. Starting Dec. 1, please make them out to Southstone Church. If you miss the transition date, it will still be ok. Our team will still be able to process all checks effective immediately.
If you send checks via a third party (your bank, charitable organization, etc.), please contact them and ask them to change the name as soon as possible. Our hope is to be fully transitioned to Southstone Church by Dec. 1. If they need additional documentation proving the name change, please contact our Finance Director, Judy Hoffman at [email protected].
-
There is no impact. We have already changed our name in our system and all gifts are properly recorded. Please continue giving as normal.
-
Giving Statements will be in the name of Southstone Church. Our church did not change EIN numbers, so from the State of Texas’ perspective, it is the same organization. You should receive one statement for all 2024 giving regardless of the name.

It is our honor to help you with anything you need. Please contact our Finance Director, Judy Hoffman, with any questions at [email protected]. All communications are strictly confidential.

WHY WE GIVE
-
The first belongs to God. We find this principle all through God's Word. Tithing, giving God the first ten percent of our income to the local church, is the primary way we acknowledge that God is first. (Proverbs 3:9,10)
-
Giving is the antidote for materialism. Whereas the tithe is giving ten percent of your income to the local church, an offering is given out of the ninety percent of your income. Therefore the offering is giving over and above the tithe. The Bible says that by giving generously we are able to "take hold of the life that is truly life." You aren't really living unless you are freely giving. (I Timothy 6:18,19)
-
Giving is the only area in the Bible where God invites us to test Him. Give your tithe (the first 10% of your income) to God and see if He does not open the floodgates of heaven to bless you in ways that you never dreamed possible. (Malachi 3:10)
-
Even when the stock market's down, you can make an investment that pays dividends for a lifetime and beyond. By investing in the life-changing message of Jesus, you can leverage your money for eternal purposes. (I Timothy 6:7)
